Obituary
TIME TO BE BORN:
March 30, 1959 in Burke County, Georgia, Silas and Rosa Brown were blessed with a son whom they name Silas Jr, but to his family and friends, he was fondly known as “Coon”.
TIME TO EDUCATE/EMPLOYMENT:
Silas attended the schools of Burke County Georgia. After moving to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Silas was taught the skill of roofing where he worked with various roofing companies and at times, worked on various side jobs with his cousin Champ.
A TIME TO LOVE:
After many years of living a single life, Silas met the love of his life Ms. Matilda, whom he married in Florida on April 6, 1997. To this union, 5 children were reared; Sidra, Bronston, Shun, Shay and Silas III. Silas loved his children and always encouraged them to do their best on choices they made in life. Sidra and Bronston preceded him in death.
TIME FOR SPIRITUAL THINGS:
Silas attended the family church, Phillip Grove Baptist Church and when he moved to Florida, he attended St. Andrews UCOG Florida, that was renamed Holy Tabernacle after a new structure was built. Silas was instrumental in the structure with his many financial donations made. Once he returned to Waynesboro, he attended Williams Grove COGIC in Millen, GA.
TIME TO REST:
On Saturday, January 23, 2021, after many years of health problems, Silas made his final transition from this life at Amara Healthcare Facility in Augusta, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John T. Brown.
Great memories will be held in the hearts of many people including his devoted wife, Matilda, three daughters; Royshunda, Roynessia and Dominique (Terrance) Smith, one son, Silas Golden Brown III, seven grandchildren; Trenika, Mashae, Imani, Elijah, Reniyah, Terrance, Damya, siblings; Judy, Diana, Joanne, Elaine and Elease, all of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Melvin (Mary), Curtis (Phalanda) and Donald (Pamela) all of Waynesboro, Georgia. Also to cherish his memories; Willie J. (Carol), Cynthia, Willie II and Roderick whom he lived with the majority of time in Florida until he married, Godchlldren; Kelvin Gaskins II of Atlanta, Georgia and Angel Whigham of Ft. Lauderdale. three sisters-in- law, four brothers-in-law, special friends; Lorraine Devine and Vern, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
