Obituary for Jerrie Bell Herrington Ms.

On Sunday morning, September 13, 2020 God called to eternal rest His child, Ms. Jerrie Bell Herrington. Jerrie Bell Herrington was born April 19, 1930 to the late Arthur & Emma Lue Herrington. She was the third oldest child of 13 children. At an early age, she joined Beech Branch Baptist Church. She attended Cousin Elementary School in Sardis, GA and completed her high school education at Waynesboro High & Industrial School in Waynesboro, GA. Upon graduating high school, she moved to Savannah, GA and worked there for a few years after which she relocated to Philadelphia, PA. Due to her natural talent for sewing and knitting, Jerrie Bell was able to obtain employment as a seamstress in the women’s garment industry. She received numerous awards throughout her life for her God-given gift. While living in Philadelphia, she joined The New Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served in several ministries. After several years, she returned home to Sardis, GA to help take care of her ailing mother. She renewed her membership at Beech Branch Baptist church where she served faithfully until her death. Jerrie Bell enjoyed spending most of her time at the Waynesboro Senior Citizen Center. Jerrie was well known and loved by others throughout the community. She was preceded in death by Myna Lee Zeigler, Arthur Herrington, Jr., Roosevelt Herrington, Roy Gene Herrington, & Janie Herrington. She leaves to cherish her memories: four sisters, Mary Lee Tolbert, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Mozelle Herrington, Savannah, GA; Carolyn (Albert) Bryant, Chicago, IL, and Mildred Mintz, Philadelphia, PA; two brothers: Woodrow Herrington, Sardis, GA & James (Louise) Herrington of Augusta, GA, two sisters-in-law. Gloria Herrington of Marietta, GA & a special sister-in-law; Louise Herrington of Augusta, GA who made sure Jerrie Bell & Woodrow hada good dinner every weekend and on special holidays. She is also survived by two very devoted nieces; Karen and Jada Herrington, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
