Obituary

Lucille Mells (Ervin), affectionately known as “Big Mama” was born on March 3, 1945 in Waynesboro, Georgia to the late Mary Mells Sapp & George Sapp. On November 13, 2020 Lucille entered into a peaceful rest. Lucille attended school at Blakeney Schools in Waynesboro, Georgia and later earned a certificate in Divinity and became an ordained Evangelist. All that knew Lucille knows she had a deep love for the word of God and displayed that love openly with others, teaching the Bible and encouraging and saving souls for Christ. Lucille was preceded in death by three children: Jannie Mae Mells, Johnny Mells and Jimmy Mells, three sisters; Rosa Mae (Wesley Sr.) Pierce, Hattie Sapp, two brothers George Sapp III (Brenda Dean) and Lionel Sapp. Lucille leaves to cherish her loving memories, seven girls, Mary (Ashley Sr.) Moore, Annie Ruth (Willie) Clin, Elouise Freeman, Joann Ervin, Christine Nicholson, Celestine Ervin, Cynthia Washington and two sons, Willie James Ervin, Jr. and Corey Ervin, four sisters, Belle (Harold) Wilkerson, Ida Cooper, Willie Mae Thomas, Carolyn Jackson, one brother Joel Sapp, three sisters-in-law, Annie Ruth Douglas, Rosa Lee Saulsberry, Eloise Williams, one brother-in-law, Amos Ervin III, three special sons, Bishop Elvin B. Lucille came into our life when our granddaughter  needed to have someone to take care of her. She was great with our granddaughter and we fell in love. We became friends and remained friend. I would visit her and we would share the Bible with each other. I was working in the school system and had three if her daughters in the classes, what a joy they were. Love all of you and I cherish the memories I have.
