I've known & loved Carl for over 20 years. He always wanted me to come visit Georgia and we were planning that trip. This however, is not the trip we planned, though I am happy I could keep my promise, to be here for his mom should something happen, with the blessings of an amazing son, daughter and son-in-law who paid for my ticket.

Carl wrote poetry which he shared with us on Facebook. He always wrote about how anyone could make a change in this world, for someone. How we could all be an inspiration to others, love others unconditionally, and keep positive because even if today was rough, tomorrow is always a new day with potential for new things.

He wrote of love, and how his heart was an open book and that it truly was. We shared the love for our team, the San Francisco 49ers and love for our families and friends.

One poem he wrote says it all. Says how he wants us to live our lives and how we can each honor him.

We only get one life so you should enjoy the view, and make a difference in what you do,
Robin Williams made us laugh through his life, even though inside he dealt with pain and strife
or like Whitney Houston who's charm was dazzling as well as grace, she had a voice that would take you to a happy place,
It can start by lending someone a hand, or a simple hug to show you understand,
you don't have to be rich and famous this is true, to touch others one at a time in what you say and do,
when I look back on my life I will be happy if I can say, that it was all right because I brightened your day.

So, go forth and make him proud. Be kind to others, be an inspiration to others, love unconditionally and always find the positive in your days.

December 14th, I received a phone call with words I was not expecting to hear. The world lost a great man. I’ve known you for all of my adult life. I have many fond memories of you. You gave me a job when I didn’t have one and needed one really bad. You taught me how to play Three Card Poker, we used to go play after work and we rocked it! I enjoyed our long drives and good talks out to Cache Creek and the other places we went. We played black jack countless times and always had a good time, most recently In February, we got our butts kicked that night but we had a good time as always. Any adventure with you was always a fun one! Thank you! It is a privilege to have known you on this earth. I am thankful for your presence in my life. You were an amazing friend and brother in law. An uncle to Tataum. She adored you, as we all did and anyone who knew you. We will miss you, Carl. I will miss you! And the good vibes you shared with the world. Rest easy Carl. I love you ❤️ I will never forget you.

My husband and I have known Carl for many years. I think anyone who met or knew Carl would use the words kind, thoughtful, compassionate and resilient. His positive spirit spilled over to many and will never be forgotten. Always there to lift others not only with word but with incredible example. No doubt there is a special place in Heaven just for you. Sending love and prayers for comfort to his loving family in days to come. Rest in Paradise Carl ❤️ Love, the Gagnon’s, Eric, Bobbi, Alex and Rachael

Thank you for being you and being real along your journey. Your ability to go through what most of us would consider life ruining, you conquered and used it as motivation. I hope you new how much good you put out in this world. As part of your ZPFamily Thank you for always supporting us and pushing us to be the best versions of ourselves. I pray for your family and friends during this time. I’m in Idaho so can’t attend your service but know you impacted my life and so many others.
